With the introduction of the newer Shimano Tiagra "A" wheels, an improved ratchet lever cable has been introduced which allows for more precise pull settings as well as an improved 2-speed gear system. The wheels of the Shimano Tiagra "A" series (Tiagra 12 and Tiagra 16 excluded) get an ergonomic offset handle that gives anglers more leverage. 

Shimano's flawless transmission system is both smooth and lock-resistant at the same time.
